The umbrella in Vernie's hands opened and, driven by strong gales, carried him aloft. Finally, when the umbrella slipped from his grasp, he crashed straight onto the castle roof. A moment’s calm, then another… He looked up and began to climb carefully. Just then, a ghost’s head popped out from right under the roof. "Hello there!" Terrified, he slid down from the roof, but miraculously managed to cling to a piece of his ragged clothing. Looking up to see what he was clinging to, he realised it was a real, living, and probably vicious gargoyle. Barely managing to keep his composure, he somehow manoeuvred himself to land on the balcony just as the rag tore. Although he misses. After hitting the balcony, he loses a little speed before falling further down. He then slides down the ledge until, finally, he is in free fall. However, he does not reach the hard ground, for at that very moment, Boogie runs out of the castle and he lands right on its back. Together, they shot out of the castle like a bullet, much to the gatekeeper’s annoyance.

And that is how Vernie spent Halloween night.
