Moon | The memories I’ve saved (story)
Continuation of this: https://yodayo.com/posts/moon-the-girl-i-met-at-the-lake-short-story
I walked back home that night, and I wasn’t really in any hurry. I was trudging, to be quite honest. It was just me, the moon, and my thoughts, of which there were an unbearable amount.
I genuinely couldn’t believe what I just saw. Wysteria? In front of my eyes? And I couldn’t have been hallucinating. That kiss felt so real! But… she also disappeared in an instant. When I came to Earth, I lost my powers (except for flying), but does she still have hers? Or was it really just a vision…? God, I hope not.
When I made it back home, I immediately changed into my pajamas and tried to go to sleep. I just lay there, for ten minutes, but it felt like an eternity. How could I focus on sleeping when I saw something so… heartbreaking?
I noticed my scrapbook that was sitting on a shelf on the other side of my room, and I got out of bed, held it in my hands, and just stared at the cover. It was very dusty, but it was the only thing I had that was from my home planet. Everything else was destroyed.
Blowing off the dust, I take it back to my bed and open it, and I’m instantly bombarded with pictures of Wysteria and I on the first page. It was overwhelming. When I was with Wysteria, we would take pictures everywhere, no matter where we went. Sometimes, she would even be kissing my cheek in some of them. But what I couldn’t get over was her face. She was so pretty… her lovely hair, those vibrant purple eyes, her soothing voice, and of course, her infectious smile.
Wait…
When I saw her at the lake, her eyes were… white. And her voice sounded… scratchy. Was she hurt that bad? Did she barely escape? Oh god… Wysteria. She must have been so scared. But she’s here, she has to be. And I’m going to find her. I’m going to find my best friend.
Or… maybe she’s not just my best friend. Why does my heart pound whenever I see her face?
