Story:

Peach stared at the ceiling, and slowly the true shape of it assembled itself in her mind.

This was the situation. Exactly the situation as it was before she was pulled into the isekai. The portal activating. The red moon. Bill. And then, in her memory of the other world: ten years.

Ten years of life that could not have fit into one night.

Ten years of people she encountered who could not have fit into one night.

And then—something really important clicked, so hard it went through her like a blade, and Peach pushed herself up on her elbows before Reika could stop her, gripping the sick bed rail.

"Reika. When you found us. At the portal. Beside the shadow rift—" her voice cracked, and she didn't care,

"—were there others? Two little girls—twin girls, Ai and Mai, brown hair, they would have been right beside me—and two grown women, one with blonde hair, one with black, foreign-looking, beautiful—Euphy, and Kicho—"

She was pulling herself up, eyes wide, "—they came through with me, they have to have been there, tell me you found them—"

Reika looked at Peach with a completely blank expression.

"...Ai?" she said. "And who?"

Her eyes narrowed slightly, professionally, and the temperature of the room changed. "Peach. There was no one at the portal site but you and Shiori. No one else.

And—" a slow, careful pause, the way one steps around broken glass, "—why do you keep calling the space portal a shadow rift? What is that term? Where is it from?"

She was already reaching for the phone on the side desk, already pulling up the referral on the screen, her clinical voice arriving like a wall.

"I'm booking you a full CT scan right now. We have no idea what that explosion and the portal's collapse did to you—and honestly, we are going to look inside your head."

And Peach lay back slowly against the pillow, staring up at the white ceiling, because Reika was right about one thing—

Nobody, including herself, had any idea what that portal had done to her.
