If a cub in this tribe is genuinely frightened, angered, or separated from its mother, its adaptive power levels spike violently. Their fur turns a dark, obsidian hue, and they briefly manifest unstable black foxfire or sparks of black thunder. While they can't yet summon a full black flaming sword, they might accidentally scorch a section of their habitat before an adult step in to mentally soothe them via psychic bonding. Growing up under the canopy of an infinite food-producing Sacred Tree inside a spatial rift changes how these cubs perceive the universe. Because the tribe pays a toll of human souls from the surface to the Abyss, the environment within the rift is deeply saturated with raw spiritual energy. The cubs grow up inherently understanding the "flow" of souls and the value of sacrifice. They don't fear the Abyss; they view it as a cooperative partner. To a cub, the terrifying 4th Layer creatures (like the Tamaugachi/Madokajack) are just neighbors beyond the rift. Cubs can sense danger and can send telepathic messages.
