(Memory Cross) To the Respective Battle 14
Story:
Go back... home? Shiro's mind roared, a thousand pieces of information crashing together, and for a long moment she could not assemble a single complete sentence.
Euphy watched her, the corner of her mouth slowly curving upward.
"Yes," she said softly. "It means—I can send you home."
"And I will go with you—to end that root of evil with our own hands."
"—Ahh..."
Shiro's tears broke through without warning.
She clapped a hand over her mouth, her shoulders shaking violently. She had been stranded in this isekai Sengoku Japan for ten whole years.
In those years she had built a new life, new bonds—Chitose, the twins, this shrine. But not a single day had she ever forgotten her true home, or the family waiting for her there.
"...However," Euphy's voice grew more solemn, "there is something I must make clear first."
"The shadow rift Bel opened in the waterfall cave behind the mountain—I've secretly studied it these past days. I believe it connects precisely to your Beta world—and with the power of my World Orb, I can follow it through."
"But... it is most likely a one-way ticket."
"I suggest you go back and think it over carefully—"
"No."
Shiro reached out and grasped Euphy's hand. Tears still gleamed in those black eyes—yet they shone with astonishing light.
"Let's do it," Shiro said. No wobble in her voice at all, and the tears were still wet on her face.
"I've been given a second chance at ten years of the wrong ending, and my hands are on it. Let's go end Bill Ebonhart where he actually lives."
And above the hillside, the stars said nothing, and the waterfall roared on in the dark below them, and its cave sat waiting with its wound between the worlds.
