The "Normal," "Elegant," and "Super" versions of Kurenai are three variations of the same person, Kurenai Yamaneko, born in three parallel universes. They are all 19 years old and share the same deep nature, but their lives have shaped them in different ways.

Elegant Kurenai → Kurenai

She is the original Kurenai from the universe in which the current stories take place. Her parents were strict and toxic, but she managed to escape and take refuge with her grandmother. The affection and stability she received from her grandmother helped her become the cheerful, affectionate, and playful Kurenai we all know. However, her childhood experiences have left a mark on her, making her stronger than she seems.

Normal Kurenai → Neko

The original rebellious Kurenai now calls herself Neko. In her universe, her grandmother passed away before they could meet, leaving her in the care of the strict, toxic parents Kurenai ran away from for much longer. As a result, she became more cynical than Kurenai, developing a rebellious, extremely independent, defensive, and often angry personality.

Super Kurenai → Ai

Ai lost her parents as a child and was raised by her loving grandmother. Therefore, she hasn't been negatively influenced by them. She is kind, idealistic, open-minded, and determined to help others. She also has a secret identity as a superhero.

About a year before the events of this story, a dimensional phenomenon brought Neko and Ai to Kurenai's universe, right in her grandmother's house. The three met for the first time and have since built their relationship.

Since their real name is, for all of them, Kurenai Yamaneko, they use the names Kurenai, Neko, and Ai to avoid confusion.

This is roughly the situation I'm outlining for my three Kurenai. They all now live in Kyoto, in the same universe as the Tengu Temple, but their stories will be separate from the main story of the Temple.
