Kicho stepped forward to meet her, silk whispering—and from beneath the red banquet yukata, from the sheath she had worn even to the Tenno's table, she drew and unsheathed her family katana in a single ringing arc, the blade catching the red sky's light like a splinter of moonlit ice.

The Fairy Princess's translucent wings spread wide behind her, fanning the air, stirring the rubble dust.
