[Short Story] An orphan
"... So how did you feel when you did that?" "I felt it. It was a smell like no other. The smell of Mum’s cooking." “And yet, bloody hell, it seems unbelievable. How on earth did you manage to eat it all?” “Bit by bit. Not all at once, of course! It lasted me a few days. The best Halloween present ever!” “You seem to be relishing this.” “You bet!” “Right, to hell with it - you’ve admitted everything and even given the details. You ate your mother, your father, basically everything in the house, whether it was breathing or not. Do you realise who you are after all that!?” “... An orphan.”
Generation Data
The orphan boy stood alone beneath the courtroom’s towering ceiling, swallowed by an oversized winter coat whose frayed sleeves covered his wrists. A warm scarf was tucked around his neck, and his mended trousers and scuffed boots looked worn but serviceable. He clutched a faded cap in both hands, twisting its brim as he faced the judge. His pale, solemn face betrayed his nerves: lips pressed tight, shoulders tense, eyes uncertain. Yet he lifts his chin and speaks with quiet confidence.
