Do you have lingering regrets, Darling?

“Do you ever wonder... why regrets hurt more when there’s nothing left to change?”

“That thing you wish you’d done differently. The words you swallowed. The hand you didn’t reach for. You keep returning to it, over and over, as though regret were a door you could eventually learn to open.”

“And every time you remember, some part of you thinks you’re being punished for it.”

“But regret isn’t a punishment. It’s proof that you still care about something that can no longer answer you.”

“That’s the cruel part, isn’t it?”

“You can forgive yourself. You can move on. You can even forget.”

“But the pain remains, because somewhere inside you, there is still a version of yourself standing in that moment…”

She slowly reached toward the screen.

“…waiting for you to make a different choice.”
