[WIP] Strikers
A Striker is a single-pilot humanoid combat machine and the defining military platform of the 23rd century. Most operational models stand between 14 and 20 meters tall, although their size, mass, and proportions vary considerably by manufacturer and intended role. They combine extreme mobility, modular armament, heavy protection, and the ability to operate in environments where conventional armored vehicles struggle.
Strikers did not begin as weapons. Their ancestors were large humanoid industrial frames developed for orbital construction, lunar mining, hazardous maintenance, and heavy cargo operations. In zero gravity, across broken terrain, and inside enormous industrial complexes, articulated limbs and human-like manipulators proved far more versatile than conventional machinery. Once compact high-output reactors, artificial musculature, inertial stabilization, and reliable neural-control systems matured, military conversion became inevitable.
A modern Striker is operated by one pilot through a neural-motor interface supported by onboard computers. The pilot does not manually control individual joints. Instead, the machine interprets movement intent and converts it into coordinated full-body motion while automated systems manage balance, targeting, sensors, and reactor output. As a result, Strikers can sprint, leap, boost, slide, climb, and rapidly change direction despite weighing dozens of tonnes. Many are capable of hovering or short aerial maneuvers, while specialized models can remain airborne for extended periods.
Strikers have not rendered tanks, aircraft, drones, artillery, or infantry obsolete. Instead, they occupy the role of extremely valuable mobile combat platforms: machines capable of breaking fortified positions, fighting inside dense urban environments, crossing difficult terrain, engaging hostile Strikers, and rapidly changing equipment between missions.
