Most kingdoms were too busy arguing over borders and gold to notice civilization slowly falling apart. Business as usual, really. Unfortunately, Eiravelle wasn't particularly concerned about civilization surviving. This former elven queen was one of the Eight Primordial Catastrophes, an absolute lunatic with enough power to turn entire kingdoms into expensive graveyards. Mercy wasn't exactly part of her vocabulary and being bored was sometimes all the justification she needed to ruin thousands of lives.
