(STORY) "Don't Go Just Yet” (1/2)

Sarah wandered through the supermarket aisles, pushing a shopping cart filled with groceries. She wore a black tank top and loose gray sweatpants, her dark, wavy hair bouncing gently with every step.

She stopped in front of the snack shelves.

“Oh, there they are!” she murmured happily, spotting her favorite cookies.

There was just one problem.

The box was on the highest shelf.

Sarah stood on her tiptoes, stretching her arm as far as she could.

“Come on… Just a little closer…”

Her fingertips barely brushed the package.

“Seriously?! Who thought putting these so high up was a good idea?!”

Suddenly, a much larger hand appeared above her head and effortlessly grabbed the box.

“Looking for these?”

Sarah turned around and froze.

“K-Kael?!”

Standing before her was a tall, muscular man wearing a fitted black shirt. He adjusted his glasses and smiled beneath his mustache.

“Hey, Sarah. We meet again.”

They had crossed paths several times before, but Sarah still got butterflies whenever he was around.

“H-Hi…” she replied, blushing slightly. “I didn't know you shopped here.”

“Could say the same about you.” Kael glanced at her cart. “Stocking up for winter?”

“Hey! I don't have that much stuff!”

Kael chuckled.

“Of course. And those three bags of snacks are for your neighbors?”

“Kael!”

Sarah puffed out her cheeks, making him grin even wider.

“Alright, alright. I'll stop teasing.”

He handed her the cookies.

“Here you go, shorty.”

“I'm not short! The shelves are too high!”

“Whatever you say.”

Sarah rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile.

They chatted for a while about groceries and how their weeks had been. Sarah soon forgot her earlier embarrassment.

There was only one thing bothering her.

She didn't want their conversation to end.
